BS Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline, and 5 years’ of experience in engineering OR an MS Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline. Basic skill in Excel, Word, PowerPoint with preferred programming capability in Python or C++. Adaptable to running on both Windows and LINUX Operating Systems. Must have good verbal communications skills and good technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills. Must be a self-starter with a high energy level. Must have the ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions. Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Ability to make progress by producing deliverables and completing projects in a multi-tasking environment.
Application of tools to design new or improved compressors or aerodynamic flow path components for refrigeration applications with consideration for manufacturing processes.
Courses and design experience in centrifugal turbomachinery preferred, with some knowledge of refrigeration cycles. Experience with two-phase flow modeling and/or phase change modeling is preferred. Experience with meanline, inviscid, and optimization design tools is preferred. Preferred programming capability in Python or C++. Applicant must have some CFD background and become proficient with ANSYS CFX or Cadence FineTurbo, including the coding of macros to automate CFD. Applicant must have grid generation capabilities and develop a working knowledge within ANSYS Workbench or Cadence Fidelity for fluids applications. Emphasis will be on centrifugal compressor component DESIGN.
