优缺点分析
优点
- A clear first-line leadership role: you manage a team while keeping hands-on technical quality work, which builds a strong supervisory resume.
- Regulated aerospace environment (AS9100, FAA, DoD) gives you credentials that transfer across defense, aviation and medical device manufacturing.
- Transparent base salary range plus an annual bonus opportunity and a broad benefits package.
- Large multinational manufacturing employer with structured quality systems and audit exposure.
- Onsite, plant-floor role with inspection deadlines, audit pressure and production escalations — the pace is set by the manufacturing schedule.
- You will need to enforce compliance and push back on production when non-conformances arise, which requires diplomatic toughness.
- U.S. person eligibility (citizen, green card, asylee or refugee) narrows the applicant pool and must be verified early.
- Best suited to quality assurance professionals with a couple of years of inspection/QA experience who already lead or coordinate small teams and want to formalize that into a supervisory role in a regulated manufacturing environment.

角色解读
- With a proven supervisory track record, natural next steps are Quality Manager or Quality Engineer/Supplier Quality roles with broader scope.
- Aerospace quality credentials (AS9100 internal auditor, ASQ CQE/CQA) strengthen credibility and open doors to regulated-industry quality leadership.
- Continuous-improvement depth (Lean/Six Sigma) can shift the path toward operational excellence or plant quality leadership.
- You run the day-to-day work of a QC inspection team at an aerospace manufacturing site, assigning inspections, tests and audits across the production lifecycle.
- You own the non-conformance loop: leading root cause analysis, writing and implementing corrective/preventive actions, and approving NCRs and calibration records.
- You keep the site audit-ready by maintaining ISO 9001 / AS9100 documentation and supporting internal and customer audits.
- You partner with engineering, production and supply chain to resolve quality issues and use quality metrics to report performance trends.
- Solid command of ISO 9001 quality systems, plus familiarity with aerospace and regulatory frameworks such as AS9100, FAA and DoD requirements.
- Hands-on root cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure and follow through on CAPA.
- Prior people leadership: supervising, training and coaching inspectors and technicians.
- Comfort with QMS software, inspection data and quality metrics for trend reporting and continuous improvement.
申请策略
- Confirm U.S. person eligibility up front, since it is a hard requirement for this role.
- Research PPG's aerospace coatings and transparencies business and the Sylmar site so you can speak to the products and customers in the interview.
- Lead with your supervisory scope: number of inspectors/technicians led, shift or area ownership, and training/coaching outcomes.
- Quantify quality results — defect or NCR reduction, audit findings closed, CAPA cycle time, first-pass yield improvements.
- Name the standards explicitly: ISO 9001, AS9100, FAA, DoD, and any auditor training or certifications.
- Show the RCA/CAPA toolkit concretely (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) and the QMS software you have used.
- Refresh your ISO 9001 and AS9100 knowledge, especially clause-level audit expectations and aerospace-specific requirements.
- Practice structured problem solving (8D/5-Why/CAPA) and be ready to walk through a real case end-to-end.
面试指南
- Use STAR: state the situation and the standard/requirement at stake, describe your specific actions as the leader, then quantify the outcome (defects avoided, audit result, cycle time).
- For conflict questions, show that you lead with data and standards — reference the specification, escalate calmly, and co-create a containment and fix plan with production.
- For systems questions, demonstrate you know the ISO 9001 / AS9100 clause logic, not just the paperwork: document control, calibration, NCR handling, internal audit, management review.
- Walk us through a non-conformance you investigated from detection to CAPA closure. What was the root cause and how did you verify effectiveness?
- How do you handle a production supervisor who wants to ship product that failed inspection?
- Describe how you have prepared a team for an ISO 9001 or customer audit. What did you own?
- How do you prioritize inspection workload and calibrations when demand spikes?
- Tell us about coaching an underperforming inspector or technician.
